Visibility is currently around 10-15 ft, based on the latest Scripps Pier camera image. The nearest piling at 4 ft is sharp and clear. The middle piling at 11 ft is visible but noticeably hazy, while the back piling at 14 ft is faint.
This level of clarity lines up with lingering sediment from weekend swell combined with moderate phytoplankton levels in the water column. Surface conditions appear relatively calm with light winds, which is limiting visibility from reaching its full potential.
If visibility pushes into the 15-20 ft range, conditions would likely improve into the B- range. For now, today earns a solid C rating — fair visibility with near structures sharp, but distant objects soft and hazy.
Early morning conditions were typically best before wind and surface chop increased through the day.
Estimated Visibility: 10-15 ft
