Visibility is currently around 4–6 ft, based on the latest Scripps Pier camera image. The underwater view shows extremely challenging conditions. Only the 4 ft piling is faintly visible as a dark silhouette on the right edge. The 11 ft marker and 14 ft marker are completely obscured by turbidity. The water is a deep greenish-teal with suspended particles throughout.

Environmental Factors: The murky conditions suggest recent wave activity stirring sediments, coastal upwelling bringing nutrient-rich water to the surface, or a localized phytoplankton bloom. The greenish tint indicates high chlorophyll concentrations. Limited light penetration through the turbid water column further reduces visibility.

Conditional Forecast: If surf calms and currents allow particles to settle, conditions would likely improve into the 8–12 ft range over the next 24–48 hours. For now, today earns a D rating — marginal visibility for diving.

Best Time to Dive: With already poor visibility, early morning or late afternoon won't significantly improve conditions. If diving, stick to shallow areas close to the pier structure where the 4 ft piling serves as visual reference.
